Sri perumdevi sametha varadarajaswamy temple situated in AndraPradesh at yadamari which is near chittoor town and it's 7km from. Mahavishnu was graced the indra at this place and the lord was named as indravaradar. It's very historical place nearly 2000yrs has gone from the time of temple construction, which is surveyed by Archiology dept.2010.

Brief History:
Yadamari is a mandal and a religious and celestial place and is one of the most important holy places in South India. Earlier it was called as "Indrapuri". This town has triveni sangamam where three rivers are meeting at one place. The rivers coming from Gudiyattam(SARASWATI), Guttakindapalle(SAVITRI) and the third one flows internally i.e.,in unspectacular way. These three rivers meet at Yadamari and making it as a holyplace and the river called as "neeva" nadi. This awesome village has three temples on the bank of the river, one is "Varadarajaswamy" temple and second is "Kodandaramaswamy" Temple and "Ekamreswaraswamy" temple. All the rituals will be conducted as per the Vaikhanasa agamam under the SriVaishnava Mudhal Theertha kaaras in the place of Aacharya Sthanam in all the way, that is daily ,Periodic, and Quartely Sevas/Festivals and yearly Brahmotsavams. This temple was constructed during the period of pallavas and re-constructed during the period of cholas and Krishnadevaraya but the significant existence of temple is there from Dwaparayuga as per ancient puranas(Brahmanda Puranam). In ancient days the annual bhrahmostavam was conducted by brahma,Indra and vikhanasamuni.
Brahmotsavakramam:
- Every Year the Brahmostavam starts in the period of May or June(Vaigasi(Tamil Month)),Jyaestamasam (Telugu Month)) Suklapaksham.
- Mrugasira Nakshatram Dwajarohanam (Morning) Suklapaksham
- Ashlesha Nakshatram 5th day Garuda Vahanam (Morning) Suklapaksham,on the day of Garudostavam, the deity does not leave the temple premises until Garuda comes and circles in the sky. Many people come to see the spectacular and divine event.
- Makha Nakshatram 6th day Kalyanotsavam,Gaja vahanam (Evening,Night)Suklapaksham ,
- Pubba Nakshatram 7th day Rathotsavam (Afternoon) Suklapaksham
- Hasta Nakshatram 9th day Vasantotsavam, Dwajaavarohanam (Evening,Night)Suklapaksham
- Chitta Nakshatram 10th day Dwadasi Aradhana,PushpaYagam,Pushpa Pallaki (Evening) and
- Finally vadaittotsavam(evening) at temple premises only.

ReplyDeleteYes this is a very famous ancient temple.The Idol of MulaVigraha and Utsava Vigraha has a very special structure and hard to explain in words especially the Utsava vigrahama has very unique the way the eyes,lips and hip are carved are very very special and it is believed that this was not made by a human.
ReplyDeleteAs per the archeology survey the temple was constructed 2000 yrs before and one more specialty in this is each part of temple is constructed by different rulers like Cholas,Pallavas and krishnadevarays.
The Another Unique feature about this temple is it has close resemblance to the famous Historic Kancheepuram Vradarajaswamy Temple.The Brahmotsavams in these temples alternates in a way like end of Brahmotsavams in Kancheepuram means it's start of Yadamari Brahmotsavams. So the Srivaishnavas who served God in Kancheepuram will be visiting Yadamari and server the god.As part of this they used to bring the Maryada from kancheepuram temple in the form of Chatram,Chamaram etc.This Tradition is loosed in the history as the days progressed.
Last but not the least ,During the Garuda Sevai of Yadamari Brahmotsavams an Eagle circles the god during the Gopuravasal. To evidence this a video is captured and published in the network.Above link can be used to see the Video.
I have many personal experiences of the mahimas and the power of Varadarajaswamy in my life.I can't explain those as i wont find enough space :)
Even though this temple has historic significance still it needs lot of development,for example the Prakaram of Varadarajaswamy Temple should be fixed with stones,right now it is very difficult to take pradkshinam and lift the vahanams during the possession, as it has full of tiny stone particles and unwanted herbs.This is just one example i have given but they are lots more to dig in.
I request devotees to participate in these and make the Temple a holistic Yatrastalam.
